What can I do with SoCalROC?

Some students know exactly where they are headed.

Others know they want to learn a skill, explore a career, or do something hands-on, but they are not sure exactly where to start.

That is where I can help.

I work with high school students, adult learners, families, alumni, and community partners to help people understand what SoCalROC offers and what those opportunities can lead to.

More Than Choosing a Class

SoCalROC gives students the chance to learn by doing.

Students can explore careers, build technical skills, earn certifications, and gain experience they can use beyond the classroom.

I help students connect those experiences to what comes next.

That may include:

Exploring careers and education pathways
Understanding SoCalROC programs and enrollment
Building or strengthening a resume
Preparing for job interviews
Developing job-search skills
Learning how to communicate technical and transferable skills
Preparing for internships, employment, and the workplace
Connecting SoCalROC experience to college applications, scholarships, and future goals

Sometimes that starts with choosing a program.

Sometimes it starts with, “What can I do with the experience I already have?”

Both are important questions.

Turning Experience Into Opportunity

A student may learn to weld, repair a vehicle, wire a circuit, assist in a medical setting, create digital media, or work with animals.

But learning the skill is only part of the process.

Students also need to understand how to explain what they know and what they can do.

That experience can become part of a:

Resume
Job application
Interview
Internship application
College application
Scholarship essay

I work with students to help them identify those experiences, communicate them clearly, and prepare for opportunities that lie beyond SoCalROC.

Career and Workforce Preparation

My work with students does not end when the class ends.

I also help students and alumni prepare to enter the workforce through resume review, interview preparation, career exploration, job-search strategies, and workforce-readiness support.

For some students, that means creating their first professional resume.

For others, it means preparing for an employer interview, identifying potential career paths, or learning how to present their skills and training to a hiring manager.

The goal is simple: help students understand what they bring to the table and how to communicate it.

SoCalROC offers hands-on training in areas such as:

Students do not need to have their entire future figured out before they begin.

Sometimes the value of career technical education is discovering what you want to pursue.

Sometimes it is discovering what you do not.

Both matter.

Employers and Community Partners

I also work with employers and community partners interested in connecting with SoCalROC students and alumni.

That may include:

Sharing employment and internship opportunities
Identifying students or alumni whose training may align with an opportunity
Helping students prepare before speaking with employers
Building connections between career technical education and local industry
