Prerequisites
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide proof of a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or GED (translated into English)
- Sign a Student Waiver and Release Form
- MUST show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
- Purchase of apparel and materials is required. Please contact registration for full list.
- Notice: Nail extension of any kind (i.e. Acrylics/Extensions/Gel-X/Gel Builder) is not allowed while enrolled in the program due to sanitary purposes and industry standards.
- Proof of a NEGATIVE MANTOUX TEST or NEGATIVE CHEST X-RAY (Must be current in
order to extern, within 3 months of extern start date) - Proof of completing the HEPATITIS B vaccine series (3 injections) or sign a vaccine waiver
- Proof of the VARICELLA and Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) vaccines or sign a vaccine waiver
- Proof of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough booster) vaccine
- Proof of current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers and First Aid cards only
- Students must complete 720 hours of classroom instruction.
- Students may not miss more than 5 days of class instruction. All absences must be made up with approval of the instructor to ensure that the student completes the 720 hour CAAHEP requirement.
- Students must earn an A or B in the class.
- Students must complete 160 unpaid hours of supervised externship (OJT).
- Students must apply for and pass the national CMA (NCCT) Certification Examination. The fee for the exam is included in the course fee.
- In order to apply for the national exam, the applicant must provide a Social Security number on the application form.

SoCal ROC's CAAHEP-accredited Medical Assisting program has a 5-year average retention rate of 81.94%, and a job placement rate of 72.46% for the years 2019-2023.
This Certified Medical Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
Students will be awarded course credits upon completion of the program.
