Chevron Donates $50,000 to SoCal ROC

Chevron Corporation awarded a check for $50,000 to the Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC). Lily Craig, Chevron External Affairs Manager, was on hand to officially present the "giant sized" check to SoCal ROC Board Members and Superintendent Dr. Laurie St. Gean. This is the fourth $50,000 donation Chevron has made to SoCal ROC.

Ms. Craig was also presented a SoCal ROC Board "Certificate of Excellence" for facilitating the donation process and for her strong advocacy on behalf of SoCal ROC and the outstanding career training programs it provides individuals of the Greater South Bay.

SoCal ROC will use the funds for on-going support the “Chevron Lab” (named for the Chevron Corporation). The "Chevron Lab" supports SoCal ROC's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses: Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering/Architecture, and The Exciting World of Engineering. Engineering is a popular pathway for SoCal ROC high school students. Instructors are working engineers including a commercial astronaut. Aerospace engineering students will be designing and building a drone for one of the major program projects. The Chevron Lab provides a simulated working engineering lab for such projects.
