SoCal ROC Students Interact with Professionals in the Health Care and Animal Sciences Field

SoCal ROC students participated in the SoCal ROC Health Science & Medical Technology Sector Career Day on February 28, 2011. Health Care and Animal Sciences professionals including a doctor, nurses, medical office managers, recruiters, a non-profit program director, and a pet grooming manager gave the students information about industry trends, career paths, and entry-level requirements for employment. The local employers that participated in the informational event were: Achieve Medical Group, Always Best Care of Redondo Beach, Gerber Ambulance Services, Home Instead Senior Care, James D. Wethe, MD, Kelly Healthcare Services, Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Providence/Little Company of Mary Hospital, Quest Diagnostics, Remolina Dental, SPCA Los Angeles, and Vasek Polak Health Clinic. After the presentations, students interacted with the industry representatives for additional advice and also submitted resumes and applications for potential employment opportunities and internships. Prior to the informational event, students prepared for the event by attending resume writing and job interview workshops at the SoCal ROC Career Center. Throughout the year, SoCal ROC sponsors Career Days focused on each of its six career sectors.

The next Career Day will be held on Monday, April 28, 2011 for the Engineering, Technology and Industrial Trades sector.
