Arts/Media & Entertainment Industry Insiders Spoke to SoCal ROC Students

SoCal ROC students in the Arts/ Media & Entertainment Sector participated in the SoCal ROC Career Day on December 7, 2010. Representatives from local employers and colleges in the Arts/ Media & Entertainment industry spoke to the students about industry trends, career paths, and entry-level requirements for employment. The employers that participated in the event were: HR ON Call, John Olsen Design, mOcean/Women in Gaming, Necessary Baggage, Star Silkscreen, and MGT Industries. The colleges that were represented were: Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and The Arts Institutes. After the presentations, students interacted with the industry representatives for additional advice and also submitted resumes for potential employment opportunities and internships. Prior to the informational event, students prepared for the event by attending resume writing and job interview workshops at the SoCal ROC Career Center. Throughout the year, SoCal ROC sponsors an in-house Career Day focused on all SoCal ROC career sectors.

The next Career Day will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 for the Health Science & Medical Technology sector.
